About PVCS

Welcome to the Platte Valley Composite Squadron (PVCS) Civil Air Patrol (CAP) website.  PVCS, also referred to as MO-140, received its charter July 25, 1996.  The squadron currently consists of 44 cadets and 20 senior (adult) members all of whom volunteer.

Our missions include emergency services in ELT - Electronic Locator Transponder (downed aircraft) search, ground search & rescue, weather disaster relief, support of VFW, and when requested, the Kansas City Police Department and the Platte County Sheriff's Office.  Other entities supported are the Kansas City International Airport, Terrace Park Cemetery and the National Airline History Museum.

PVCS senior members, along with the help of higher ranking cadets, provide youth, ages 12-21 the opportunity to learn time-management proficiency, leadership skills, military drill and ceremony, physical fitness and character development.  While becoming a leader, they have the opportunity to progress through (self-paced online)18 ranks starting as Cadet Airman and may progress to Cadet Colonel.  A cadet, in recent years, attained Achievement 17, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel and in May 2019 graduated from the US Air Force Academy.  A number of cadets went to other service academies, joined ROTC, became paramedics, firemen or policemen. Many others have gone on to other professions throughout the community where their skills learned in Civil Air Patrol enable them to succeed.

Our senior members all participate in the cadet program while also supporting the squadron and community with air and ground emergency services support and aerospace education.  The squadron has a number of positions available for just about any interest that an adult member may have.  Civil Air Patrol has an adult professional development program that allows advancement of both non-commissioned and commissioned officers.  Civil Air Patrol also recognizes military service by promoting senior members to their military grade as appropriate.
